Man Arrested For Praying At The White House – ‘I’d Rather Obey God Than Man’

Christians are being persecuted for their faith all over the world, we in the United States are privileged to be able to pray and practice our faith freely- wrong, because recently a man was arrested and was sent to prison just because he was praying outside the White House.

Richard Patten, is a practicing Christian businessman from Washington, D.C., who prays outside the White House gates. He says, “I have been praying here at the White House for the last 16 years. The Holy Spirit put a calling on me …” Patten says.

Patten was praying at the gates of the White House at night when a police car rolled up in front of him, and a lady secret service officer asked him what he was doing, soon more officers turned up and started questioning him on weird things, like what medicines he takes and has he been to a mental illness assylum.

Soon he was taken into arrest by secret service officers for anointing the gates with holy oil. “They took me off to jail for the most uncomfortable night I’ve ever had in my life,” Patten said. He was not allowed to make any phone calls and he could not sleep whole night because of all the shouting and yelling there.

Finally when the morning came, the police officers told him they were releasing him. The judge drew a red boundary around the White House, and he drew a larger boundary around it and 3 times every week for 2.5 hours he would pray his way around it. Eventually they absolved all the charges against him and the judge pronounced him “not guilty” which meant he could go back to the White House.

Patten was called by one of the members of the administration who said that he was invited to the White House for an evening but the secret service called him and said that he would not be allowed inside the White House. Richard hasn’t given up and even though he still gets stopped by secret service while praying at the White House, he says to those people “i would rather obey God than them.”

What a powerful message by Richard Patten for America and its people. Yes, we need to pray like never before for our president and his staff because God is doing something here and we should yield to Him and Him alone.

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
