A baby born four months early weighing less than a single soda can defied all odds and became Australia’s most premature surviving baby. Doctors cannot explain how this tiny child made it through 14 weeks in intensive care.

When we look at news like this, we are reminded of how great our Lord is. Life is a gift from God above and He has complete authority over it. When doctors say there is no hope, God always has the final word.
When you read how this tiny baby survived even when medical experts were in doubt, we can clearly see the hand of God working where we see no possibilities.
A sweet mother named Annrose Tanuvasa only found out she was pregnant five days before giving birth. She thought she had miscarried months earlier in December, but doctors think she may have lost a twin.
Then on March 25, little Makerita Miracle Tanuvasa was born at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital. She arrived at just 21 weeks and three days. That made her Australia’s most premature surviving baby and the tiniest baby born in Queensland.
She weighed a tiny 351 grams, which is less than a can of Coke. When Annrose saw her, she admitted she took one look and thought there was no way her baby was going to make it.
Her husband Misi said the baby was so tiny she could fit right in the palm of their hands. They could not even hold her for the first four weeks.
The hospital staff worked so hard and spent 14 long weeks caring for her in the intensive care unit. Nurse Renee Judd said her survival was truly a miracle. The doctors said they could not even explain how she kept surviving every issue. I felt so moved reading that because it shows us how God does things in ways we humans cannot understand.
Now, sweet baby Miracle has been discharged and is safe at home.
No matter what kind of trials come into our own lives, our ultimate hope must always be God. As the Bible says, our help comes from the Lord, who made heaven and earth.
How majestic those words truly are! Aren’t we the precious children of that glorious God? What these parents went through was a situation many of us cannot even imagine, where even the doctors did not know what the outcome would be. Yet we saw how God’s hands protected and saved that little baby. We may face similar situations in our lives too. But in those moments, we must remember who we are and who is with us and trust that He can do the impossible.
As Jesus said in Matthew 19:26, “With men this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”
Please join me in praying for baby Miracle and her lovely parents as they start this new life at home. May the Lord bless them, protect them, and keep them safe always.
