A local police officer and a young drumline student faced off in a viral snare drum battle that is capturing hearts everywhere. What started as a simple challenge turned into a viral moment that is making people smile everywhere.
In this video, a police officer in full uniform steps up and grabs a pair of drumsticks to challenge a young boy. The officer starts tapping out a rapid rhythm and you can instantly tell he must have marched in a band back in his own school days. It is so refreshing to witness law enforcement and youth sharing a joyful moment together.
When the young student takes his turn he does not hold back at all. He matches the officer perfectly and even throws in some flashy stick tricks that make the crowd go wild. As I listened to the crisp beats bouncing back and forth, I found myself tapping my foot along with them. They trade off playing complex patterns and neither of them ever loses the tempo.
The ATL Drum Academy shared the video on their YouTube channel and it has since gone viral. Many people know them from their amazing run on America’s Got Talent where they earned the highly coveted Golden Buzzer.
I watched the entire video with a big smile on my face. Life can be stressful some days and these kinds of videos are truly a breath of fresh air. May our law enforcement officers find more opportunities to interact with our young people and help build them into better individuals for the society.
