A rideshare driver in San Antonio saved a barefoot toddler from busy traffic and her dash cam caught the whole thing.

Most of us drive the same roads every single day. Same turns, same lights, same shortcuts. So it’s easy to notice if our eyes catch something unusual.
But the question is how many of us would actually stop and do something about it. Most of us would just skip it like nothing. Michelle Gallegos didn’t do that. And that decision saved a child’s life.
Michelle Gallegos was working her usual South Side zone for zTrip when she noticed something moving in the road on South Zarzamora Street, just south of I-35. She figured it was a dog at first. There are a lot of dogs in that area, she said.
But as she got closer, her stomach must have dropped. It was a little boy — barefoot, running into moving traffic, completely unbothered.
Gallegos knew she had to act fast. She honked. She pulled over. She jumped out of her SUV mid-traffic. There was a truck speeding alongside her, she said, and if she hadn’t stopped, well. You don’t want to think about it.
“If I didn’t stop, he would have gotten him,” she said later.
The little guy? Not scared at all. He was skipping. Playing. He had no idea.
Gallegos scooped him up, got him into the front passenger seat, and her dash cam caught her talking gently to him. “Where do you live, baby? Here, sit right here.” He didn’t answer. Didn’t point. Just sat there.
She gave him snacks to keep him calm, drove into a nearby parking lot, and called 911. Police arrived in under ten minutes.
Police documented the incident and returned the child to his parents.
God places the right people in the right places. We don’t always understand why we take a certain road on a certain morning — but sometimes we’re exactly where we’re supposed to be.
If you’ve ever been in the right place at the right time, you know that feeling. That’s no coincidence.
