Roman was diagnosed with spina bifida after an ultrasound at 20 weeks. It’s a birth defect in which a baby’s spinal cord fails to develop properly.
Despite the odds, Rowan’s parents were determined to persevere. On August 1, they witnessed one of the most memorable moments in their lives, their 2-year-old son walked for the first time.
Thankfully, Whitney Dinkel captured the precious moment and shared it on Facebook. This 7 second clip has viewed over 23 million times. It shows Rowan making his first steps in front of his parents and family dog Maggie. What a brave boy!
