Two sisters from New York gave the ultimate surprise to their dad on his birthday by welcoming babies on his 70th birthday.
On July 3, Simone Cumberbatch had her scheduled caesarian section at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, hours earlier, her younger sister Shari had gone into labor. “At first I was shocked. I said, ‘Wow this is really happening?'” Simone Cumberbatch, a mom of two said, “When I realized it was real, I said, ‘This is going to be a good thing.'”
Simone had given birth to a girl, Liberty, at 5:30 p.m, while Shari had given birth earlier as well to a baby girl named Hailey, at 12:57 p.m, much earlier than doctors expected after she was in induced labor.
The Queens, New York, sisters share the same obstetrician, Dr. Jay Seraji, so because of Shari’s labor, her sister’s C-section got postponed. “The doctor said, ‘We’ve got an issue. Your sister was induced and I didn’t expect her to go into labor until later but she’s 8 centimeters dilated and I’m going to have to take care of that,'” Simone Cumberbatch said.
The sisters were due in mid-July, but Simone Cumberbatch chose July 3 as the date to have her C-section so that her child would share her father’s birth date. Elmo Cumberbatch, is now a grandfather to 3 girls, there’s going to be a big celebration now as he is excited to buy the kids presents.
The Cumberbatch sisters are very happy with the surprise deliveries as Shari Cumberbatch says, “I’m kind of hoping her cousin will be her best friend,” of her daughter.
