A family’s first flight with their 5-month-old daughter to Cabo San Lucas turned into a memorable experience, thanks to a fellow passenger’s kind gesture.

As they embarked on their journey, the Levin family, hailing from Hoboken, New Jersey, was anxious about how baby Romey would fare on the flight. To their surprise and relief, Romey found herself completely captivated by a passenger crocheting across the aisle.

Kelly Levine, Romey’s mother, shared with “Good Morning America,” “Romey ended up taking a liking to this woman next to us and the woman was crocheting. Her hands were moving a million miles an hour and Romey was just obsessed with it.” Kelly described her daughter as “observant” and “very curious.”

The crocheting stranger, Meegan Rubin from Villanova, Philadelphia, also found joy in this encounter. “I was sitting in the aisle and the baby was in the aisle so she was gazing at me the entire flight. I was working on a sweater,” Rubin recounted to “GMA.” “She was literally mesmerized by it.”

Moved by Romey’s fascination, Rubin decided to crochet a hat for her mid-flight, a gesture that stunned the Levines. “I was like, if I [don’t] run out of this yarn and there’s time, I’ll do it,” Rubin said, noting the yarn’s color matched Romey’s outfit. “I couldn’t help it. I was like, this baby is getting something because she’s too cute.”

With only an hour remaining on their nearly five-hour return flight, Rubin raced against time to complete the hat. Kelly Levine expressed her amazement, “She ended up gifting us this beautiful beanie that she decided to make for [Romey] mid-flight. Never seen someone work so fast in my life. I had no idea it was for us.”

The hat was a perfect fit for Romey, much to the delight of fellow passengers who cheered on. This sweet moment, captured on video, has since garnered over seven million views on TikTok. The Levines feel blessed that their story of generosity and kindness has touched so many hearts.

Rubin, who calls herself a beginner in crocheting, now finds inspiration in Romey. “I’m definitely going to make Romey a little baby dress because I love to make baby dresses,” she told “GMA.” “I’m happy to make that connection and make new friends. They’re such lovely people.”
