Saxophonist Uriel Vega delivers a powerful instrumental performance of ‘Holy Forever’ at church.

‘For this worship gathering, he chose to play “Holy Forever.’ Written by Chris Tomlin, Phil Wickham, Jason Ingram, and Brian and Jenn Johnson of Bethel Music, and released in 2022, this song carries a massive message for the church today. It tells us that God’s holiness exists completely outside of time.
The lyrics declare “Your name is the highest, Your name is the greatest, Your name stands above them all.” It reminds us that angels and saints have been singing this forever, and we simply get to join a chorus that is already happening right now.
Born in Mexico City and now based in Utah, Vega has spent over two decades turning his musical talent into a dedicated Christian ministry. His personal mission is clearly stated in his own words as a desire “to create music with the sole purpose of inspiring and comforting the world.” He doesn’t just perform for a crowd. He plays his faith.
In this performance, Vega’s incredible saxophone playing and the backing orchestra move the entire congregation. It sounds like these instruments are shouting out loud about how great our God is. As the song progresses, we can hear the whole congregation join in the background like a massive unified chorus.
One of the greatest privileges we have as believers is the freedom to worship God in so many ways. We can praise Him through singing, through dancing, or through an instrument, just like Vega does with his saxophone. There is no single “right” way we must follow. Psalm 150 calls us to praise Him with trumpets, harps, strings, cymbals and dancing. So whatever way you choose to worship Him, give it to the Lord with all your heart.
“Praise Him with the timbrel and dance; Praise Him with stringed instruments and flutes!” Psalm 150:4
