A sibling band from Oregon called We Three moved the judges and the audience to tears during their audition on America’s Got Talent with a song written for their late mother.

Joshua, Bethany, and Manny grew up in a house filled with music. Their father played in a band with his own siblings when he was younger. Their mother supported the family by working the soundboard during performances and recording sessions.
Bethany said, “Before we could even walk, we were immersed in music.”
In 2015, their mother began to suffer from severe back pain. Doctors found large masses throughout her body and diagnosed her with stage four carcinoma cancer.
The family only had four months with her before she passed away. This was much shorter than the siblings expected.
The trio decided to honor her memory by performing an original song called ‘Heaven’s Not Too Far Away’. They wrote the lyrics from the perspective of their mother speaking to them during her final month of life.
Joshua said, “This is an opportunity to celebrate her and the hope that we have that we’re gonna get to see her again one day.”
The lyrics shared a message of peace and a temporary goodbye. One line says, “Heaven’s not too far away, I know someday you’ll visit.” Another part of the song says, “I’ve got to move up north, but it’s just temporary.”
Their father watched from the wings with host Tyra Banks and cried as his children sang. He told the host, “I loved their momma so much.” The audience and the judges gave the band a standing ovation when the song ended.
Judge Mel B was visibly shaken and cried openly during the feedback. She explained that she lost her father to cancer a year earlier. She said, “I felt like that song was just meant for me and my dad was singing that to me.”
Even Simon Cowell called the performance special and said it felt like a professional record.
All four judges voted “yes” to send the siblings to the next round. The band eventually made it all the way to the semifinals of the competition. They used their platform to share a message of love and loss with the whole world.
