Life is unpredictable. Sometimes we go through tough situations that make us feel completely abandoned and forgotten. We wonder if anyone even notices. But even in those moments God is already moving behind the scenes to make a way out.

This poor puppy might have thought it was the end when he was thrown away to die in a garbage can but God had other plans for him.

A Bin That Fell at the Right Moment

Naz Nalls and his partner Omar were running their normal route for the City of Milwaukee when a garbage bin fell off the truck before it got dumped. Nalls says that almost never happens.

“Usually, it don’t fall off. That’s what’s crazy about this. I feel like it was kind of destiny,” Nalls said.

Inside was a frail malnourished puppy who was somehow still wagging his tail.

Nalls called his supervisor Alex Halverson, and Halverson was already driving out to check on that exact crew. The moment he pulled the dog out of the can, the dog let him hold him without any hesitation.

Halverson gave him the only food he had with him, two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. The dog didn’t even chew them. He just inhaled.

A Name and a Home

Halverson took the dog to MADACC himself and was given first rights to adopt him. He was already looking for a second dog so it wasn’t a hard decision.

He named him PJ after those sandwiches.

“God knows what he went through. And the fact that he was in a garbage can, purposefully discarded… the fact that he was still super friendly,” Halverson said.

If you ever feel forgotten or abandoned, remember we have a loving God who cares for every sparrow that falls. He saw PJ buried under garbage in a trash can and He made a way out for him. He sees you too and He is already working things out for you in ways you cannot see yet.

“Are not five sparrows sold for two copper coins? And not one of them is forgotten before God.” Luke 12:6 (NKJV)
