An elderly husband and wife stepped onto the dance floor at a massive rock and roll dance festival and stole the show with their incredible moves.
The couple is Dietmar and Nellia Ehrentraut. They come from a small town named Durmersheim in Germany. Dietmar was born in 1946 and his sweet wife Nellia was born in 1950. They have been married for ages and have been dancing together since the 1970s.
Over the years they practiced so hard that they won several amateur titles in Boogie Woogie and Jitterbug dancing. They actually became famous worldwide back in 2017 when a video of them at a local event went viral on the internet.
This specific performance took place at the 17th Rock That Swing Festival held at the Deutsches Theater in Munich back in February 2024.
When they walked out I couldn’t help but smile. Dietmar looked so sharp in a bright red double breasted suit with a red tie and black shoes. Nellia looked absolutely lovely in a simple black knee length dress with silver shoes.
When the rock and roll music started they began tapping their feet and swinging instantly. My goodness, the energy they had was amazing.
Dietmar was spinning Nellia under his arm over and over without missing a single beat. At one point in the song Nellia slid really low right between Dietmar’s legs. I actually held my breath for a second because that takes so much balance, but he guided her back up so smoothly. Their footwork was so fast with all those kicks and heel taps.
The crowd was clapping along the whole time and shouting for them. When the song ended they took a bow together looking so happy and proud.
Watching them reminded me how wonderful it is when God grants us good health and a partner to share our passions with over a lifetime. It is a true blessing to see a long marriage filled with this much fun, laughter and togetherness.
