A baby and a deer sharing an adorable moment right in the front yard is exactly the kind of unexpected sweetness you need to see today.
In a short clip captured by Maggie McCarthy, a little girl steps out into her yard and finds a wild animal waiting. The tiny fawn had wandered out of the woods and simply stood there near the house. When a toddler meets a baby deer you never quite know how the situation will unfold. Kids are usually loud and unpredictable while wild animals startle and run away at the slightest noise. But this viral video shows us a completely different kind of encounter.
She carefully walks up to the baby deer. She stops and just looks at the fawn taking in the sight of this unexpected visitor.
Most of us would have rushed in to grab the child or scared the deer away. But McCarthy didn’t interrupt and gave them both space.
The fawn does not run away. It stays right there in the yard looking back at her with big curious eyes. The two of them share this quiet space in the grass. The little girl then reaches out with so much care. She doesn’t grab at the deer or try to hold it. She just gently extends her hand to touch it. The baby deer leans in a bit accepting the soft greeting from its new friend.
The video only lasts for about 23 seconds but it captures something we rarely get to see up close.
