It takes a lot of nerve to stand in the middle of a crowded convention lobby and start singing at the top of your lungs. Most people wouldn’t even think about it. But Lala Gil did exactly that, and what happened next caught everyone off guard.

Lala Gil is a worship singer and vocal coach who teaches others how to harmonize. In a recent YouTube video, she decided to take worship outside the normal church setting. The clip shows her standing in a busy lobby singing the worship song “Agnus Dei” without any background music.
If you grew up going to church, you probably know this song. Michael W. Smith released it back in 1990. The song declares that the Lord God Almighty reigns and that the Lamb is holy and worthy of praise.
At first, the people walking by look completely confused. Some just ignore her and rush past with their heads down. In the middle of the noise, she just closes her eyes and keeps singing louder. Her voice fills the lobby and makes it feel like a worship sanctuary. Then something shifts. A few brave bystanders stop walking and actually step up to join her. By the end of the video, we can see many people singing along and worshipping God in small groups.
Lala placed a text overlay on the video explaining her heart behind the moment. She wrote that publicly worshipping God shouldn’t be embarrassing because it is what we will do “24/7 in heaven.” The video has been viewed over 600,000 times on YouTube and hundreds of people expressed their joy through comments. One person wrote, “This brought tears to my eyes. He’s coming soon.” Another person wrote, “Heaven is going to sound sooo beautiful!”
When you read the book of Acts, you see that the early church did not hide their faith behind closed doors. They took it to the streets and let the world hear it. But now many of us keep our faith within our comfort zone. We love God, and we’re glad to serve Him. But when it comes to sharing the gospel with a few strangers or even colleagues, we slowly pull back.
We get so worried about what strangers might think of us or how they will respond. We need to remember that Jesus carried all our shame and was publicly humiliated on that cross. He never sinned and was holy. But He willingly took on the worst punishment of that time. So how can we keep quiet about that kind of love? God doesn’t want us to be just churchgoers. He wants all of us to be ambassadors of Jesus Christ who boldly share the gospel wherever we are.
“Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word.” (Acts 4:29, NKJV)
