A Chick-fil-A employee went to the restroom on his break and stumbled upon almost ten thousand dollars of lost cash just sitting on the floor. And what he did next moved thousands of people online.

I read this story and it really warmed my heart because it is so rare to see this level of honesty today. We all face moments where doing the right thing is hard especially when nobody is looking. When this Chick-fil-A employee finds money that could easily change his year he chose to follow God instead.
It happened on April 3 at a Chick-fil-A in Kinston North Carolina. Jaydon Cintron was taking his break when he walked into the men’s bathroom. He saw two bank envelopes right next to the toilet. One said First Citizens Bank with $5,000 inside and the other said Truist Bank with $4,333 making the total an incredible $9,833.
“They were on the floor next to the toilet. My first thought was just like, ‘Okay, no, this isn’t happening,” Cintron told the local news. “Something is wrong.” He knew what to do so he picked up the cash and took it straight to human resources.
His explanation is incredibly touching. “I was in the right place at the right time, but more than that, my faith teaches me to do what’s right and to care for others,” Cintron explained. He said keeping it was never an option because “that’s not what Jesus would have done. That’s not what God would have wanted.” He added that “Money is useless without character.”
The owner of the lost money soon contacted the police and claimed his cash. He was so thankful he offered the young worker a $500 reward. Cintron tried to turn it down. “I don’t want anything out of this,” Cintron said. “I did this because that’s what Jesus would do.” He finally accepted the gift after refusing it several times.
Police chief Keith Goyette praised him saying “a lot of people will, unfortunately, take that money and run with it, but kudos to that employee at Chick-Fil-A, [he] definitely deserves a reward.”
Temptation is everywhere and it always hits us when we least expect it. We have to realize that the enemy loves to set up traps that look exactly like blessings right up until they destroy us. That cash on the floor could have easily looked like an answered prayer to someone who was not walking in the Spirit. But if we really want to grow spiritually we have to learn to walk away from the things that look good to our flesh but grieve the Holy Spirit.
It is so easy to justify taking the easy road when nobody is looking. But every single time we say no to a temptation we build up our spiritual muscle and we get a little closer to who God called us to be. The only way we can actually do this and survive the attacks of the enemy is by making our daily relationship with Jesus Christ the absolute number one priority in our lives.
We cannot fight the devil or our own selfish desires on our own strength because we will just fail every single time. We have to stay plugged into the Word and keep our prayer life hot. When Jesus is our greatest treasure the shiny things of this world just completely lose their grip on us.
We need to actively chase after God and let Him change our hearts from the inside out. Let us commit right now to seeking His face before we seek our own comfort and always choose His truth over quick fixes.
“Blessed is the man who endures temptation; for when he has been approved, he will receive the crown of life which the Lord has promised to those who love Him.” – James 1:12 (NKJV)
