Sometimes the most powerful worship doesn’t come from renowned artists or bands but from a group of young people singing their hearts out. Concord Youth Choir performing the cover of the popular worship song ‘Gratitude’ really touched my heart.

‘Gratitude’ was written by Brandon Lake along with Benjamin Hastings and Dante Bowe. The track first came out on his studio album in August 2020 and a radio version was released in June 2022. Brandon Lake actually got the idea for the lyrics while he was looking out at the massive Sydney Opera House in Australia. He felt so small in that moment and realized that we humans have absolutely nothing impressive to offer God.
The song is a huge success and even won a Dove Award for Worship Recorded Song of the Year in 2023. The message is incredibly relatable for all of us. We often feel like our prayers fall short when we think about how big God is and we wonder how we can ever show enough thanks for His blessings. But this song reminds us that the Lord just wants our honest praise.
The Concord Youth Choir is a dedicated group of students who lead worship and bring their local church community together. They have strong roots in both traditional hymns and contemporary music. What makes this Brandon Lake Gratitude cover so special is that it is entirely a cappella. There is absolutely no background music but you honestly do not miss it. Their voices blend together so beautifully and that alone was more than enough to bring the song to life.
When I listened to them sing I just felt incredibly blessed and happy. It is wonderful to hear young people praising God with such passion.
We often worry about finding the right words to thank God for His blessings. But this youth choir worship video reminds us that the Lord isn’t looking for a fancy speech or a perfect prayer. He just wants us to show up. Even if it’s just a simple hallelujah, what matters to God is that it comes from a genuine heart.
God sees our intentions, and He loves it when we come to Him exactly as we are, with nothing but our love and our praise.
As Psalm 145:18 beautifully tells us: “The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”
