Beloved Hollywood icon Dick Van Dyke brought unexpected joy to a Santa Monica Denny’s when he and his quartet performed an impromptu musical number for delighted restaurant guests.
Dick Van Dyke was eating at the restaurant with his singing group, The Vantastix. Then something amazing happened. This legendary actor, who starred in The Dick Van Dyke Show back in the 1960s and danced with penguins in Mary Poppins, just started singing right there in the dining room.
The group performed the theme song from ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,’ the 1968 movie about a magical flying car that Dick also starred in.
The other diners could hardly believe what was happening. People grabbed their phones to record this special moment.
Dick smiled and laughed with everyone as he sang. You could see he was having just as much fun as the people watching him.
His voice still sounds wonderful, and his energy filled the whole restaurant with happiness.
