A pet owner cradles a tiny dachshund puppy like a newborn baby as the sleepy dog drifting off in their hands captures hearts everywhere.
There is something so precious about seeing a tiny living creature completely surrender to sleep. In the clip, the sweet little dachshund rests right on its back in its owner’s hands. As the owner softly strokes its head and smooth ears the puppy’s eyes grow heavier and heavier.
Before long the little thing is completely fast asleep right there on its back. Then the owner gently moves the sleeping pup over to rest on their lap. I watched it with a big smile on my face thinking about how God’s creatures bring so much simple happiness into our everyday lives.
Nothing in the world bothers this tiny pup. She is sleeping peacefully right in the arms of the one she trusts the most. So many people today are struggling to get peaceful sleep.
Nearly half of adults in the U.S. alone do not get quality sleep, according to the National Sleep Foundation. And if we ask them, many would point to the difficult circumstances they face, worries about tomorrow, or financial burdens that keep them from resting.
The Bible highlights our need for rest in our lives. But how can we find peace in the midst of all this noise? Scripture itself gives us the solution.
Lean on God and place all your burdens and cares into His hands. Then the Holy Spirit will give us the peace that surpasses all understanding, a peace that no human words or medicine could ever bring to our hearts. As that tiny pup sleeps peacefully in her owner’s arms, let us trust God wholeheartedly and rest in His arms.
“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6–7
