Doctor Robert Singleton II, an anesthesiologist and Christ follower near Chicago, shares a powerful message based on Isaiah 41:13 that brings comfort to every weary soul.

Isaiah 41:13 is a popular verse we all hold dearly and it says
“For I the Lord your God hold your right hand; it is I who say to you, fear not, I am the one who helps you.”
Why the “Right Hand”?
Most of us just read that as a nice piece of poetry, but Dr. Singleton makes a great point: about 90% of us are right-handed. Our right hand is our “doing” hand. It’s the one we use to work, to sign papers, to build, and to steady ourselves when we trip. It represents our own strength and our ability to manage our lives.
The doctor’s insight goes deep: God is reaching for the very hand you use to try and stay in control. He isn’t just standing nearby; He’s gripping the hand you rely on most.
It’s Okay if Your Hands Shake
One of the most relatable things Dr. Singleton mentions is how we react under pressure. When we get nervous or overwhelmed, our hands start to tremble. We lose our grip. We fumble big opportunities or feel like we’re about to drop everything we’ve worked for.
We usually feel guilty about that “shake,” but the doctor reminds us that the promise isn’t that we will never tremble; the promise is that God’s hand never lets go. Your security isn’t based on how steady you are—it’s based on how steady He is.
The Father-Child Connection
He uses the image of a father walking with a child. A child might be terrified or shaking as they walk through a tough spot, but as long as the father has their hand, they’re safe. The child doesn’t have to be strong enough to hold on; they just have to be held.
The takeaway is one we all need right now: You aren’t walking this path alone. The “hand” you rely on to manage your job, your family, and your future is being held by a God who doesn’t slip, doesn’t panic, and never drops what He carries.
When you feel like you can’t hold it all together, remember—you aren’t the one doing the holding.
