‘The Chosen’ Actor Elizabeth Tabish Reveals How She Found The Love Of Jesus Through The Series

Elizabeth Tabish, who plays Mary Magdalene in ‘The Chosen’ series shares her story of finding and experiencing the Love of Jesus through the series.

Earlier to receiving the role, the actress from Texas had been struggling to make ends meet. She was in depression and  was thinking of switching careers as she thought, she was “following some dream that was dead.”

Always skeptical about faith and religious matters, the actress had always been trying to be logical about it. However, after getting the role as Mary Magdalene and three seasons in, she says that it was hard for her to ignore that there was something very special about playing the character which she could relate as a woman and because of it she began to realize that God has been with her the whole time. And she have been slowly opening up to His love.

Jesus elevated women, period,” she said. “It’s rooted in what Jesus did, you know. His care, respect, and love for women was the same as men — it was for people, all people. I’m excited that we’re a show that is representing a vast array of types of women: of mothers, wives, entrepreneurs, women with pain, women with joy.

Explaining the raw and challenging direction which the creators of the series are taking to show the traumas and pain of women that time. She said that the show, though Biblically based aims to tell a story of people who had these experiences as real people.

The Bible is about a perfect God using imperfect people for His glory and for Elizabeth playing the role of the imperfect Mary Magdalene who made mistakes, has personally touched her and led her to know more about God’s greatness and love for her. She has come to appreciate the complexity of Jesus’s ministry on earth as well as the richness of the scripture as she she delves deeper into the role.
