An amazing act of kindness done by a stranger for a family in Washington county was exactly what they needed.
Tami Avolia said her son Travis Larson, died due to a shooting in 2017, just one week after getting the news that he was going to be a dad.
His 4-year-old daughter, Milan, misses him every single day and his family cannot come to terms that they will never see him again.
Avolia said, “He didn’t just take my son. He took my best friend. He took his daughter’s daddy away. She never got to meet him,” Avolia said.
She adds, “A week before, we were celebrating the gender reveal party. He was so excited he was having a little girl.”
Avolia wanted to celebrate her son’s birthday with his daughter’s birthday in April and so she released ‘Happy Birthday’ balloons in the air along with Milan and attached a note to them.
“She wrote a note to him, and I translated it and it says, “Happy birthday, daddy. I love you. I miss you. And I never wanted you to go away. Happy Birthday. Baby girl,” Avolia said.
An unexpected twist happened, “A couple of days later, I went to the mailbox and I started pulling the box out and saw that it was from ‘Daddy in heaven’ to ‘Baby Girl’ and just started crying,” Avolia said.
One postal worker in Fayette County said that the balloons were found by a woman at her home in Brier Hill and she sent a package to the mail to send to the family a few days later.
The package was addressed “Baby girl” from her “Dad.” Inside the package a note was there which read, “I love your birthday present. Thank you so much. Daddy loves you and Mommy so much and you all. Here’s a present that I made just for you. Hope you like them,” the note said.
Aviola and her family found 3 handmade Christmas ornaments inside the package. “They are Christmas tree ornaments, and I am sending you a kiss from heaven. Snowflakes are kisses from heaven. I love you so much. Daddy,” the letter said.
Milan was so happy to see the package that her dad had sent her, “To see the smile on her face when she got her gift from daddy in heaven was priceless,” Avolia said.
What a pleasant surprise this was for Avolia who said it gave her so much hope for the future amid a world that was becoming worse day by day.
“After what I went through, I lost faith in people. They brought it back. I just want to thank you, whoever it is. I want to thank you,” Avolia said.
