A farmer discovered one of his chickens with a very motherly instinct had sheltered some of his kittens.
Goran A Surchi was trying to find out where the sounds of meows were coming from inside the chicken coop on his land near Erbil, northern Iraq.
But the Kurdish farmer never expected the noise to be anywhere near his own animals.
A video of Goran walking up to one of his hens and gently lifting it up to reveal three kittens sheltering underneath is warming hearts everywhere.
The tiny felines yelp as their safe hiding space is revealed. The video clip went viral with more than 300,000 views on Tiktok.
Goran says, ‘For a while now, I used to be listening to meows coming from our rooster coop and I used to be curious to know what was occurring, as our chickens may very well be at risk.
‘After I realized that the meows have been coming from below the rooster, I made a decision to file it in order to not miss this distinctive second and to my shock, there have been three stunning kittens there.’
Goran says the kittens found safety with the hen because their mother had tragically drowned nearby.
‘Later we got here to search out the mom of the kittens. Sadly, she drowned in a lake close to the farm,’ he said.
Goran will allow the tiny kittens to stay with their adoptive mother as they continue to grow stronger.
