A Hymn at Dawn

The video starts in the soft blue light of early morning with the family standing together on an Ozark hilltop. As they begin to play, the fiddle, banjo, guitar and dobro all come together in the kind of tight harmonies that fans have come to love about this family.

‘In Christ Alone’ was written by Keith Getty and Stuart Townend back in 2001 and it quickly became one of the most loved worship songs in churches all over the world.

The hymn takes us through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus. Its message is straightforward. Our hope is not in ourselves. It is in Him alone.

Light Breaking Through the Darkness

What really makes this performance hit different is the sunrise. The video begins when it is still basically dark outside and as they keep singing the sun slowly climbs until it fully breaks over the hills. And that is exactly what Christ does in our lives.

When we are going through hard seasons of doubt, grief, or fear, He is the one who brings light into the darkness. Our hope is indeed in Christ alone.

The most powerful moment comes when the golden light floods the hillside right as the family sings about the Resurrection.

The Petersens have built a loyal following for good reason and this performance is a great example of why people love them.

If you have had a rough week, take a few minutes and watch this music video. It is a good reminder that no matter how dark things get, the light of Christ is always enough. From our first cry to our final breath we are held in His hands.

“The Lord is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge.” Psalm 18:2

Verse of the Day

“knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.”
