Three quick-thinking women in Kars, Turkey, used an ironing board to rescue a stray cat stranded on a six-story rooftop.

A stray cat somehow got itself stuck way up on a roof. We are talking six stories off the ground! I cannot imagine how terrified that poor cat must have been. One wrong step and it would have been a long way down.
Luckily three friends living in the building nearby spotted the cat in trouble. They did not just sit around waiting for help or panic either. Instead they looked around the apartment and came up with the most creative thing. They grabbed a regular folding ironing board!
It sounds crazy when you first hear it. But when you think about it an ironing board is actually pretty long flat and sturdy. They opened the window and carefully pushed the ironing board across the gap between their window frame and the roof edge. It made a perfect little makeshift bridge.
Now cats can be pretty cautious creatures as you know. Anyone who has ever lived with a cat knows they do not move on human time.
Even if we offer them the best treat in the world, they will still sit there for ten minutes looking at you like you are trying to trick them. So you can imagine how this little stray standing at the edge of a six-story roof would respond when it sees an ironing board put in front of it. It would absolutely think it’s some kind of trap.
The cat was hesitant at first. So the women started sprinkling cat treats and food along the ironing board to show the cat they were friendly. I was holding my breath watching them balance that board and lay out the food.
It took a little time for the cat to figure out what was happening. But hungry and needing help it finally realized these ladies were trying to save it.
Very slowly and carefully the cat stepped onto the board and walked right across the bridge into the window. One of the women grabbed it safely and pulled it inside. I was so relieved when that little cat made it across!
It really warmed my heart seeing how much effort they put into saving a stray. But if you look into it Turkey actually has a really special culture when it comes to street animals. People over there love their neighborhood cats and dogs. They do not treat them like pests at all.
