An exhausted FOX 13 news anchor and working mother accidentally fell asleep during a live broadcast. The short clip went viral, and many viewers are showing their support for this struggling mom.
My heart just went out to this poor woman when I saw this video. Dominique Dillon was sitting at the news desk during an 8:30 morning broadcast.
The reporter out in the field finished talking and tossed the segment back to her. Instead of reading the news, Dominique had her eyes completely closed with her head resting right in her hands. There was total silence on television for a few uncomfortable seconds while she slept right on air.
When she woke up her eyes fluttered open real fast. She tried to act like nothing happened and said let us turn to the forecast. Her coanchor Ernie Freeman laughed and called her Sleeping Beauty.
Dominique teased back that she was not sleeping at all and just had something in her eye. It made me smile because we have all been that tired before.
Lord knows raising babies takes every bit of strength a woman has. Dominique welcomed her second baby girl about eight months ago. Her workday at the television station starts at 2:30 in the morning every single day.
Can you imagine how stressful that must be? We know how often an infant wakes up through the night, the constant feedings, the nappy changes, and how exhausted a mom becomes. Plus an early-morning job on top of that—I would be doing the same thing.
