There is something about children singing about the cross that just gets you. It reaches a place in your heart that most things never touch. That’s what happens when you hear this young choir sing ‘The Miracle.’
Shawna Edwards wrote ‘The Miracle’ originally for a small group of children in her own church congregation. She wanted them to understand that what Jesus did on the cross was not just a Bible story. It was personal. It was for them. Right then and there.
The song takes you through the miracles of Jesus one by one. He walked on water. He healed the leper. He made the blind see and the lame walk. He fed thousands of people with almost nothing. He even raised a young girl from the dead. These young voices help us picture those miracles and remind us about the incredible ministry of Jesus.
But then the song arrives at the greatest miracle of all. The lyrics call it “the miracle that rescues me.”
The song then talks about how Jesus suffered on the cross for our sins. And then it points to the greatest gift ever given to humanity through His resurrection. Salvation. Eternal life.
When these kids sang those powerful words, I got tears in my eyes.
The video was filmed on the beaches of Florida and it took months of hard work and dedication from these young singers. And you can feel every bit of that in the final result.
We serve a God who still does miracles. And the greatest one He ever did was come down here and rescue us. May these young voices remind us of that truth and draw us closer to the cross.
