Patient Proposes To Trauma Nurse Who Treated Him After Devastating Paragliding Accident

A devastating accident, turned into a blessing for a man who was severely injured and landed in the hospital.

Damien LeRoy, 37, was badly injured in Florida in 2016 when he had to jump off his paragliding aparatus, and landed 150 feet below.

The accident caused a broken back, pelvis, sternum, femur and several ribs.

He was rushed to St. Mary’s Medical Center, where nurse Alexandra Hoover was on the trauma team that treated him.

“I just saw her eyes right away and I was like, man,” LeRoy said, “She was just the sweetest person and she cared so much.”

The nurse, Hoover, 29, said,”He looked up at me and he laughed a little and asked me if I had a boyfriend,” she recalled. “And at the time, I actually did. So I said, ‘Yes, I do, and I love him very much.'”

But cupid struck a year later, and LeRoy began dating Hoover.

SO when it was time for the proposal, it was done in the same hospital room, they both had first met.

Dressed in a button-down shirt and a bow tie, LeRoy got down on one knee while Hoover stood shocked in her scrubs.

“I was given a second chance at life and for sure I was put there for some reason. Now I know and now we get to share the rest of our lives together,” LeRoy said.

Verse of the Day

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.”

Ephesians 6:12-13
