A video of a rescue dog praying with a priest in Colombia is capturing hearts everywhere. You will not believe what this faithful animal did during a healing prayer at church. It is a beautiful reminder that God’s creatures understand love.
We see so much sadness in the world lately but then the good Lord gives us a glimpse of His grace through the sweetest little things. I always say animals are a gift from heaven and this just proves it.
The story comes from a little church in Colombia where a dear local priest takes care of his parish. Back in 2019 this kind man was visiting someone who was very sick and he found some abandoned puppies left all alone. He took one in and named her Luna.
When Luna had babies, he kept one little boy pup so the mother and son could stay together. He named him Simón. I just think that is so wonderful because families should stick together.
Now these aren’t just regular pets. The people call them little altar boy dogs because they follow the priest right up to the altar during Mass. They even bark along to the hymns like they are singing. But how the world really came to know about them was what happened during a time of intercessory prayer.
The priest was praying over a young lady asking our Father in heaven for healing. And wouldn’t you know it little Simón was sitting right there on a chair watching closely.
As the priest reached out to bless her the dog reached out his little paw too and just rested it right in the priest’s hand. It was as if he knew exactly what was happening and wanted to add his own prayer to help the poor girl. My heart just swelled up.
This sweet little dog reminds us all how important it is to pray for others. When he gave his hand to the priest my heart just completely melted. Even though he doesn’t know anything about fellowship he showed us what it truly means.
When someone goes through a hard time, we should have a heart that aches for them and a readiness to hold hands with fellow believers and pray for them. That is where the true love of God is revealed. That is exactly what the Apostle Paul tells us to do. He writes in Galatians 6:2 Bear one another’s burdens and so fulfill the law of Christ.
