A Milkshake Was Shipped Hundreds Of Miles To Fulfill A Dying Woman’s Last Wish

Tommy’s Restaurant in Cleveland Heights has been serving milkshakes for more than 50 years. But recently they received a special request from hundreds of miles away. Emily Pomeranz, a Cleveland Heights native who lived near Washington D.C. was suffering from a second bout of pancreatic cancer and in hospice.

One day her friend Klein asked her ”is there anything you’re going to miss in terms of food”?. She replied “What I would do right now for a Tommy’s mocha milkshake,”. Klein reached out to Tommy Fello, the restaurant’s owner to make it happen. Fello was touched by Emily’s story and he wanted to do anything to grant her final wish. He paid $123 and shipped the beverage to Pomeranz’s hospice room in Arlington, Virginia. She received the drink at her bedside four days before she passed away.

“She leaves behind a treasure trove of memories; a legacy of laughter, joy and caring; grieving family and friends,” Klein wrote on Facebook. Thanks to the good heartedness and caring of Tommy.

Verse of the Day

“[The Greatest Gift] Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.”

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
