School Admins Announces Snow Day With Epic Version Of ‘Hallelujah’

Swartz Creek Community Schools Superintendent and Principal put on quite a show to announce a snow day, and the video has garnered more than 400,000 views online.

Superintendent Ben Mainka and Principal Jim Kitchen, both with a background in singing, performed Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ with their own custom lyrics.

In the hilarious video, Mainka can be heard saying, “I know that one of the things that’s been happening, which is an epidemic across our country, is that superintendents and other administrators are coming up with ridiculous songs. They’re playing music, putting on sunglasses, and making absolute fools of themselves trying to cancel school for a snow day.”

Suddenly, the music begins to play, and Kitchen jumps in, saying, “Let me reiterate: we are not going to humiliate ourselves by singing a snow day song.” Mainka adds, “I honestly don’t know what happened. I can’t stand it when people sing about snow days!”

Once again, the music starts, and the duo put on their sunglasses and begin to croon. At the end of the video, Mainka says, “For the safety of our students and staff, we are going to be canceling school tomorrow. Please be safe and stay warm.”

Verse of the Day

“[Christ’s Birth Announced to Mary] Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee named Nazareth, to a virgin betrothed to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. And having come in, the angel said to her, “Rejoice, highly favored one, the Lord is with you; blessed are you among women!””
