Leanne Carrasco said she did not want to throw a regular party, but this Waltrip High School grad wanted to have a celebration party with the homeless women and kids at the Star of Hope, where she has volunteered many times.

Carrasco decided to throw a pizza party for them and also planned to handout personal hygiene bags to the attendees.

In all she gave away four hundred personal hygiene bags, and shared ninety pizzas with the two hundred residents at the facility.

Carrasco will be studying nursing at Briar Cliff University in Iowa, and hopes to make a career out of giving back.

“You don’t see this all the time and it’s very fulfilling to know that I’m able to help others instead of just helping myself,” Carrasco said.

Luke 14:13-14, “But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind, And thou shalt be blessed; for they cannot recompense thee, for thou shalt be recompensed at the resurrection of the just.”
