An 18-year-old was caught shoplifting by security in Toronto Walmart, when he attempted to steal a shirt and tie. The store’s loss prevention officer called Const. Niran Jeyanesan onto the scene. Upon talking with the teen, the officer discovered that he had tried to steal the outfit to attend a job interview. The teen had no resources or finances to his name and he thought that shoplifting was his only option.
When the teen was released without any charges, the officer Jeyanesan then bought the outfit and gave him for his job interview. “This young person has been facing his own difficulties in life and he was looking to straighten out all that by providing for his family and trying to get a job,” Jeyanesan said.
