Five Daughters Tackle Military Dad to Ground in Heartwarming Homecoming Surprise

A Marine veteran gave his five daughters the surprise of their lifetimes by returning home early after four months of service overseas in Baghdad.

Marine dad surprises daughters

We all know how hard it is to wait for someone we love. Maybe it is a phone call from someone close to our heart, or maybe we are waiting for them to walk through the door. Any kind of waiting is a pain that pinches our hearts.

These five little girls knew that feeling firsthand, because their beloved dad had been deployed overseas for four months.

Harrison Michael Kendrick had been counting the days. So had his daughters. When he walked through the door a full week ahead of schedule, the girls didn’t hold back. They ran straight to him, piling on in one big, joyful tackle that said everything words couldn’t.

The separation had been hard for Harrison. For four months he missed every single moment with them — tucking the girls in at night, reading bedtime stories, being there for bumps and bruises.

While we celebrate and gather with our own families, there are military families sitting at dinner tables with an empty chair, just waiting and praying for their loved one to come home safely.

Right now, more than 165,000 military members are deployed overseas. Each one of them has a family just like Harrison’s, counting the days.

Let’s keep them in our prayers, that God would watch over every single one of them and bring them home safe.
