Ten thousand drones lit up the night sky over Manvel, Texas, telling the powerful story of Easter and His return.

10,000 drones Easter story

We can get so caught up in Easter egg hunts and family dinners that we forget what Easter is really about. But God always finds a way to remind us. He used ten thousand drones over Manvel, Texas to do exactly that.

The Church on MastersRoad put on this incredible show as part of their ‘JJJ: Jesus, Jesus, Jesus‘ series, and what unfolded in that night sky was simply the greatest story ever told, written in light.

The show opens with words that light up the sky like a bold announcement. “Repent, for the Kingdom is at hand.” Right from the start, you know this is not just a pretty light show. This is the Gospel.

The show starts with a powerful scene. A tomb appears in the sky. Now here is where it gets really good. The big stone slowly slides apart. And then, a silhouette figure that resembles Jesus steps out of the tomb. Just like that. Out of the darkness, into the light. That scene alone is enough to give us chills everywhere.

Then the story takes us to Peter and John, running as fast as they could to the tomb after hearing the news. They expected to find a body. Instead, they found folded grave clothes and an empty tomb.

The narrator says it so well. The tomb was not empty because someone stole Him. It was empty because He did not need it anymore. Oh, we love that. Death thought it had won. But it did not. Not even close. Death has lost its sting.

The story then walks us to the road to Emmaus. Two heartbroken followers were walking with a stranger, not knowing it was Jesus himself walking right beside them. And when He broke the bread, just like He had done in the upper room, their eyes opened wide. It was Jesus all along. He had been right there with them.

Then Jesus appears to His disciples and says, “Peace be with you.” And then He asks if they have anything to eat.

The show continues with a breathtaking scene of the Ascension. Thousands of drones create amazing animation of Jesus rising into the sky. The words of the Great Commission ring out. “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Now the next scene is one that just fills your whole heart up. The drones form the image of Jesus in His glory, seated in the kingdom of God, reigning as King forever. You just want to worship right there on the spot.

The show tells us Stephen’s story, a man who stood up boldly for his faith even when people wanted to kill him for it. As they stoned him, Stephen in full of the Holy Spirit looked up and saw Jesus standing there at the right hand of God.

Then the finale comes and oh, this is the part that gives you chills from head to toe. The sky fills with the image of a white horse and Jesus in His glory riding it. The commentary booms out like a victory cry. “King of Kings and Lord of Lords.”

The narrator reminds us, “The story doesn’t end at the grave. It doesn’t end at the ascension. It ends with a promise. He is coming back.” Every single drone light in that Texas sky points to the moment we are all waiting for. His return. Faithful and True, riding in on that white horse.

If a drone show can make us this moved and this full of joy, can we even begin to think about what it will actually be like when we see Him coming in all His glory? We cannot even imagine it.

This drone show took us through the whole heart of Easter, from the empty tomb to the risen King to the promise of His return. So here is what we want to do today. Let us not just watch this and move on.

Let us take a moment right now and ask God to keep our hearts ready and our eyes looking up.

Let us pray together and say, “Lord, we believe You are coming back. Help us to live like we mean it.” He is risen. He is reigning. And He is coming again. Are we ready?

Verse of the Day

“[Christ in Our Place] For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:6-8
