A Boston police officer became an unexpected star of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Fan Festival after a video of his spontaneous soccer juggling went viral.

Sgt. Connor Hardy, a 13-year BPD veteran spotted American and Scottish fans kicking a ball around and he walked right over.
“I think they thought I was going to be the fun police and steal their ball,” Hardy said. “In fact, I ended up stealing their ball, but just kind of participating and having a little fun with them.”
The crowd erupted. Hardy juggled the ball with his feet, knees, and head before breaking into a celebratory dance.
The BPD shared the clip on X, where it crossed 550,000 views by evening. Shares from Barstool Sports and CBS News pushed it past a million.
Hardy even met Scotland’s First Minister John Swinney, who recognized him on sight.
“It’s a good showing for the city of Boston,” Hardy said. “Even the police are getting along with everyone.”
