Disabled Man With Severe Frostbite Cries For Help, A Good Samaritan Takes Him Into Her Home

In an incredible display of love and concern for a fellow being, a kind-hearted couple came to the rescue of an elderly man with mental issues during a recent snowstorm in New York.

disabled man in snowstorm Joe White

Sha’Kyra Aughtry and her boyfriend, were out in the streets, earlier this month when they saw Joe White crying out for help, as he was being blown up and down the street. The couple took him to their home to tend to his wounds, feed him, and give him a warm place to sleep.

The young mother of three, on her Facebook live, said that the man’s hands were severely frozen, so she had to use a blow dryer to warm them and remove the bags he was holding.

Joe was taken to the hospital, two days later for a proper medical check-up. His friend and coworker, Chris Dearing said that Joe was not mentally stable, so he could not grasp the seriousness of the snowstorm that has been sweeping across the northern parts of the country.

For Joe’s medical bills, Dearing has set up a GoFundMe page, which has surpassed the initial goal of $20,000 and reached over $90,000.

“During the December blizzard of 2022, my friend and North Park employee of [about] 40 years, Joe White, suffered severe frostbite on his hands,” he wrote in the campaign’s description. “[D]isoriented and crying out for help, he miraculously found himself at the doorstep of Sha’Kyra Rain Aughtry — a total stranger — who put her Christmas plans aside and tended to his wounds the best she could, ” Dearing wrote in the description.

He has also launched a GoFundMe page for Aughtry which has raised a huge amount of $165,372. He wrote, “Sha’Kyra did all of this without any thought of reward, but she deserves one, and so does her family,” he wrote. “She’s a hard-working young mother, and I want to show her at least a fraction of the support she gave my friend Joe.”

This heartwarming story serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of helping those in need. We wish Joe a speedy recovery and extend our blessings to Sha’Kyra Aughtry and her family.
