Dying Dad Has Emotional First Dance With Daughter At Her Wedding

One of the most important events in a wedding reception is the bride’s first dance with her father in front of her husband and wedding guests. It is a highly emotional dance and the time and is cherished by the father and daughter.

Mary Bourne Butts was not sure her dying father would make it to her December 29th wedding because her dad, Jim Roberts was diagnosed in May 2017, with glioblastoma, an incurable brain cancer. He was placed into hospice care shortly before the wedding.

But thankfully he was able to be there at his daughter’s wedding and also was able to get onto the dance floor. Even though Roberts is bound to a wheelchair, they both danced to the classic country song ‘I Hope You Dance’ from LeeAnn Womack with Mary twirling him all around and sharing a tender moment with her dad.

Verse of the Day

“[Christ in Our Place] For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Romans 5:6-8
