A parents’ video message became an internet sensation when an Irish couple couldn’t stop laughing while trying to record a baby shower greeting for their daughter in Australia.

Orla Carroll’s friends in Australia asked her parents back in Ireland to record a video greeting for her upcoming baby shower. Her mother Maureen and father sat down to create what they hoped would be a touching message for their daughter, but their plans took an unexpected turn.

From the moment they started recording, Maureen could not keep a straight face. Her initial smirk sparked shared laughter with her husband that grew with each new attempt to record their message. “Sorry, love, we’re not used to making videos,” Maureen said through her laughter, trying to explain their struggle.

The couple made several attempts to deliver their message with proper composure. Each time they started again, the sight of themselves on the camera screen sent them into fresh waves of giggles. “Sorry, love, we have the chuckles now,” Maureen explained as she and her husband continued their valiant effort to complete their greeting.

Their final attempt ended with Maureen sharing a message wrapped in genuine joy: “Sorry, sweetheart. Love you lots. Sorry for laughing so much, but it’s just looking at the two of us on the camera.” This last recording, following many bloopers, became the perfect expression of their excitement about becoming grandparents.

Modern technology lets families stay connected even when oceans separate them. While the couple might have failed to record a traditional message, they created something more valuable.

Verse of the Day

“If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.”

1 Corinthians 13:1-3
