A police officer in his full uniform lifted up his gifted voice and worshipped God in a moving video.
The song he chose to sing is the classic gospel hymn “Jesus, Keep Me Near the Cross”. Fanny Crosby wrote the lyrics and William H. Doane composed the music way back in 1869. The message in this song is something we all desperately need to hear today. It reminds us that we have to keep Christ and His sacrifice right at the center of everything we do.
The song calls us to stay close to the cross not just when we go to church but in our everyday lives so we can experience His grace and peace continually. It is a simple truth but it carries so much weight for believers trying to navigate a difficult world.
Most of us expect a police officer on duty to keep a professional distance and stay tough. Seeing him drop that guard to sing for our Savior is truly inspiring.
Like this officer, may we all have that deep desire to lift up the name of God wherever we are. We know being a police officer is one of the busiest and most stressful jobs, yet he still finds time to worship Him and encourage others in Christ. Let us all have that exact same heart.
No matter how incredibly busy we get or where we happen to be, may each of us be able to set aside a little time for God. He deserves all the glory. Let us use every opportunity to lift up His name.
