One precious little girl was born a whole month early and she had to spend nearly three weeks getting strong enough to go home. The hardest part was that she and her mom were separated for an entire week during this critical time.
I cannot even imagine the deep ache a mother feels away from her newborn for that long. As a parent your only instinct is to hold your child close.
When the day finally came for them to be together again, the precious moment was captured on video. The mother walks up to her sweet baby and leans over the hospital bed. What happens next is an absolute miracle of God.
The tiny infant actually reaches out her frail little arms toward her mom just like she is trying to give her a huge hug. I watched that second over and over and could not stop smiling. It is a pure display of the powerful bond between a mother and child.
The bond between a mother and child begins long before that baby born into this world. Right inside the womb, an unborn baby hears the rhythm of her mother’s heartbeat and recognizes her soothing voice above all others.
Science even tells us that tiny cells from the baby pass into the mother during pregnancy and stay inside her body for decades to help her heal. It is just incredible to think how God lovingly designed this divine connection right from the very beginning.
As the scripture reminds us in Psalm 139:13-14 (NKJV), “For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvelous are Your works, and that my soul knows very well.”
